What Can I Help You With?
What Can I Help You With?
With the rise of technological inventions, devices have been created to help people surpass their natural limitations. In this information age, people increasingly rely on smartphones to remember things for them, while information overload and the overuse of these devices may impair human memory performance, distract individuals, and alter how they perceive and memorize the world around them.
The research began with the observation of Alzheimer's disease and its effects on human memory, revealing an intersection between memory loss and the current information era. This led to an exploration of how overusing technology, especially smartphones, may affect human memory and diminish our natural capabilities.
This mixed-media installation recreates the distorted patterns found on heated smartphone screens, transforming a familiar digital surface into an immersive, physical landscape. Enlarged beyond its original scale, the screen becomes an environment for viewers to move through and experience.
The work materializes an invisible paradox: as we increasingly entrust technology with our memories, we may gradually alter our own relationship with remembering. What was designed to extend human capabilities becomes a distorted reflection of them, inviting us to question what we preserve, what we forget, and what we may be losing along the way.
